Calls:
Tiny little things that flit around Bloodpriests. Vampiric in nature they are naught but glorified ticks. Yet offer an uneasy alliance. Their rapid flapping and smooth mesmerizing flight patterns disorient others. And in mass swarms can completely confuse and distract, whilst the Bloodpriest strikes. The eyeless Bloodpriests are unaffected by the pests they tolerate. In return, Scaffénla roost between their chitinous plates. Sinking their fangs into scent and pheromonal glands to irritate and direct blood flow. that of which they feast upon. Though that is not to say that they will not swarm any other living thing, they will do it if their host dies or manages to free itself of its parasites.
Assassins, Highbinders, Knights of certain Guilds, and other esoteric people will willingly allow controlled colonies to live upon them. Effectively "taming" the Scaffénla. Culling the Scaffénla when they become too much, or become too bold. This parasite is smart, and trainable. Which makes them very easily weaponized. From certain individuals being infected with disease to then bite and harass a certain target, to colonies kept by guilds being unleashed to "devour" an individual whole. The possibilities for partnership are many, at the minor cost of comfort of course.
Scaffénla lay eggs. Their clutches will stick to Bloodpriest carapace. They lay en masse as many of their clutch will be devastated by storms, grooming, and poor sperm yield due to low genetic diversity. Captive Scaffénla eggs must be manually culled due to this, because the yield will far outnumber the resources needed to sustain them.
