Malka'masiern stay within the Upʐ Kinöck Flats. The marshy mire a desert oasis, rarely if ever will Malka'masiern leave. Typically only during natural disasters.
Malka'masiern belong to to the Baj’orna group, medium sized generalists.Skittish and shy, but no less dangerous. Malka'masiern traverse upon four legs, the front pair a silken darker color. And the back the main lighter brown. From their chest sprout a pair of arms, they use these to dig through the mud. Looking around for viable sweet roots or small wriggling things. They as well will use the curved claws of these arms to strip thorny sweet plants of their defenses. From the tops of their front legs sprout feathers and an interesting structure from the top of their back legs. The feathers are the same darkish teal, they are present on the fan tail of the Malka'masiern as well. There is a vibrant and distinct shine present on the feathers. The blue horn structure that guards their face and crowns their hips is extremely reflective as well. Catching the suns light to blind possible predators, with its feathers used to further confuse as the animal skitters away. Malka'masiern are capable of a devastating kick if something should sneak up behind them.
Malka'masiern are exceedingly skittish, they can make for good pets if caught. But the issue lies in catching the cunning things. Malka'masiern have a surprisingly high intellect, capable of spotting a trap with ease. And disabling it if the thing pleases, though typically they will lead their predators to the trap. To dispose of them for the time beining so one may forage without a greater sense of stress. Tamed Malka'masiern have been observed making amateur childish drawings if provided paper and pen, as well as playing with childrens toys.
Malka'masiern are caring parents, yet solitary ones. They do not mate for life, one parent will typically yield two offspring in a litter. And typically can keep both alive and see them mature. Newborn young will coil their long bodies around the hip structure, clinging to it. They are tealish and their fur and feathers reflective so that they blend into the structure with ease. They are kept warm by soaking in the suns heat, and during glazing events. The parent will keep its young submerged in mud, protecting them from the heat and radiation.
