“Come now the Wyrlighter to show us our way.”
(Sigil for summoning a wyrlight)
Many infrastructure in main dragomiian cities rely on mahken for light in the form of Wyrlight. Small to massive floating lights capable of
sustaining themselves. Yet many cannot make a wyrlight without great effort or accidents. Those who learn the sigil and learn it well often
make a living out of going around and lighting wyrlights in their proper holders or alcoves. In return, wyrlighters are fed eagerly by those
they assist. Gifted trinkets and other items as tokens of appreciation. And may be housed in great estates rather than the usual housing block.
Many will wear tools that make working with Mahken easier, or so they say. Given Mahken is so uncontrollable and so volatile it is still very much
unknown how the sigils work even now. But what is known is that having massive claws or a unicornic horn is of great assistance. Non-Dreadhounds will
opt to wear a metal horn upon the brow. And many will wear metal claws of which to “draw”.
Side effects of such constant mahken use come in the form of rapid overheating, blinding, and night terrors. Why these side effects for wyrlight
summoning specifically? Who knows. Most curious is the weight gain associated with wyrlight summonage. Mahken use typically rapidly depletes energy
and fat stores in ones body, but not if they summon light. Leaving many Wyrlighters in the brute classification. Often because of these side effects
Wyrlighters are given attendants to make sure they don't panic or kneel over dead at random intervals. If they do, more often than not the lights they
lit will go out. Though this is a very rare event for Wyrlighting is a relatively safe use of mahken.
