Kauzen Klall inhabit the Greymire
Heavier than they look, if the Djargeyr is the apex of the greymires waters. Then the
Kauzen Klall are the apexes of the land. While yes they do take to the waters to run
along the bottom of the water. They prefer to stick to what land the mire has to offer.
And if not land, then the trees with their strange almost fungiform branches. Specialized
apposition eyes that are capable of seeing in infrared. Allowing them to both avoid mud and
various bits of debris messing up their eyes, and allowing them to run down and gore hiding
animals in bushes. Large antennae sense the coming weather and allow the animal to react accordingly.
Heavy and mean, Kauzen Klall prowl the greymire in search of food. Mostly preying upon the small
Rwhedäʐ. Laying low before sprinting out of the brush and goring its prey with the sharp horn on
its head. A deadly weapon meant for stabbing and ripping. As the Kauzen Klall thrashes its head,
its eyes are capable of staying gyroscopically stable. Either locked in on its prey or surveying
the area while it makes short work of its victim. Keeping the animal aware and capable of spotting
approaching danger. This in hand with its apposition eyes let the animal see virtually in an almost
360 visual range. As well as being able to spot infrared, it is almost impossible to sneak up on the
Kauzen Klall. But alas, Djargeyr can do it on occasion. Taking advantage of their already low body
temperature and the mires cold mud as camouflage. With patience does this menace fall. When they
are not resting high up in the shelves of Daregas trees. Hiding out of reach of predators and only
occasionally bothered by Weingand.
Mean and territorial be Kauzen Klall. Adult individuals claiming territory of varying size, as large or as small as they want. And patrolling it religiously. Kauzen who have claimed small territories often trespass into Kauzen to poach their prey. And if discovered, brutal and bloody clashes are bound to happen.
The grubs of the Kauzen Klall are hatched from egg clutches of eight to fifteen. Pudgy and armored they stick to the highest shelves of the trees where they were laid. Out of reach of grazing weingand. These grubs feast on smaller insect and what greenery exists. Before the strongest turn on the weakest and the numbers thin. Once 40-60 days have passed the grubs will pupate into small Kauzen. These individuals will slowly grow into full sized adults over the course of a few years. These younglings will be bereft of territory and be relegated to trespassers or in rare cases, usurpers. And upon maturation they will stake and claim and possibly overthrow other Kauzen in their chosen territory. In some cases these border and territory disputes end in a pair getting along or holding truce long enough to mate.
