Holdshaw

Overview

The largest animal in the crater of Blackhold. The Holdshaw guards its territory with ferocity and hunts the citizens of Blackhold. But of course, they cannot always hunt the Shivuhound in their crater and thus are cannibals. Younger Holdshaw and weaker Holdshaw are fair game for stronger individuals. Thus they inhabit a certain radius around Blackhold and are rarely if ever found outside of the radius. But once you get closer, their laughs carry far over the barren land. Its a warning sign to turn back lest radiation or the Holdshaw get you.

Temperment

Clever they are, daring they are. Feasting on dragomii has given them a certain method of thinking. They can solve puzzles with little effort, open windows and doors, knock over the arc lamps of the streets at just the right time to kill someone, and can and will mark someone and stalk them relentlessly. Leading to any Shivuhound in Blackhold who is targeted, to wear a mask and switch it often. Confusing the Holdshaw and eventually causing them to lose interest.

Life Cycle

Whelps when born will be useless. They are often buried in mud hutches or “eggs” so that the vampiric Scczar or Szrtas Bloodpriest struggle to get ahold of them. As well as to guard them from other hungry Holdshaw who will devour anything they can find. When young, the Holdshaw must be exceedingly careful as to not be eaten by others. Often by sticking to the fringes of their radius and or hiding within Blackhold itself until they mature. The ones who hide oft become the most vicious kineaters. Having ample time to study and learn patterns of the Shivuhound.
