Xanglen Wyrm inhabit the upper malian atmosphere, lower malian atmosphere, and all around western malia
The thendral is uniquely shaped, tiny and with only six fins it is among the smallest wyrms. Eyeless and lacking a headcage, the Xanglen is blind and defenseless. It survives off eating smaller particles found higher up and on the ground, and evolutionarily is on its way towards photosynthesis. Three fins are large and leaf shaped as to catch the air and ride it high to stay out of trouble on the ground below. Being so small and not doing much of anything, Xanglen do not need much food and will typically only feed for small periods of time. These periods being extremely limited on the ground below. For when the Xanglen is not airborne, it is crawling around the underbrush in the plains of Malia.
Extremely skittish the Xanglen will either hurriedly burrow when its approach upon the ground, or dive when its floating high up. They feel danger through use of The Sound, feeling the changes of air pressure, and tremors.
Xanglen start off small and groundbound. They will hide in marshy and plains areas as they rather quickly mature. Half of each clutch of twenty is typically picked off. The survivors develop their specialized fins quickly and will hide out in the sky as soon as they are able too. When two Xanglen bump into each other in the air, they will mate. And when they find each other on the ground, they will mate. As they are but fodder for Malian Storm Singers when they pass through Xanglen territory. Xanglen must also fear the toxic fog and mist that Malia brings, and often are they on a tight schedule of landing, feeding, flying, feeding, and repeat.
